ISKCON Temple

ISKCON Temple, DelhiISKCON stands for International Society for Krishna Consciousness. It was initially established as a spiritual society in New York. This society is reproduced the message of Bhagwad Gita.

ISKCON was established in 1966 by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. In India there are about 40 ISKCON temples. Mostly people go there for finding solace, peace and quiet.

ISKCON temple, Delhi is dedicated to the Lord Krishna. Built on a hillock, this complex is elegantly built and is one of the largest temple complexes in India. This temple was completed in 1998. Architecture of this temple is one of the largest temple complexes. At the entrance are two statues of the guards of vekunth (the place where Shri Krishna resides).

The temple has Shikharas of 90 feet in height and temple has a center hall for prayer which has capacity to accommodate about 1,500 people. The interior walls of the temple have been decorated with aesthetic works of Russian artists. Russian Artists represents the different phases of life of various deities like Radha-Krishan, and Sita-Ram.

There are beautiful paintings of Russian artists on the different past times of Radha Krishna, Sita, Ram, Laxman, Hanuman and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Special programmes like kirtan, aarti, pravachan and prasadam are held every Sunday between 12pm to 3.00pm.

The other attraction of temple is museum. The museum organizes the multimedia shows to make the devotees understand the story of the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata. It also gives a brief interpretative understanding of views, philosophy and practice of the Hare Krishna culture.
