Appu Ghar

Appu Ghar, DelhiAppu Ghar is an amusement park which is located in Pragati Maidan at Mathura Road in Delhi. Appu Ghar was inaugurated on 19th November, 1984, by the then Prime Minister, Late Sh. Rajiv Gandhi, on the occasion of the birthday of Late Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi.

Appu Ghar got the name from that Mascot's name. "Appu" is the name of the Elephant and "Ghar" means House. Appu was both the cartoon mascot, and a live elephant mascot that became the star in 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi.

Appu Ghar has all the rides a normal amusement park has. It is the most happening place in the city. International Amusement Ltd (IAL) is the organization which holds Appu Ghar and Oysters Water Park-India first Amusement Park.

Appu Ghar is spread over 15.5 acres of land. Appu Ghar houses 22 immensely popular rides in its premises, along with a recently opened Water Park which is called as Oysters which is spread over 3.5 acres of land. The couples love to dance and romance in the Rain Dance or the Ice Dance that are introduced according to the season.

Four acres of the Water Park blanketed with ice offering sledding, skiing, ice boating and bowling on ice are a craze among tourists. This water park is especially preferred by people to beat off the scorching heat of the summers. The entry to the park is through Gate No. 4 which is the registered gate for Appu Ghar at Pragati Maidan from Mondays to Saturdays.

Appu Ghar is favorites for all children. Appu Ghar is for anyone of any age. Apart from the rides, Appu Ghar has fast food centers which serve all kinds of Indian food and a variety of shops selling gift items and wares.

A Mini-Disneyland
Appu Ghar in New Delhi is a crowd puller for the residents of the capital as well as those of neighboring towns. Children will have a time of their life over here, while the enjoying the various rides.

The Swinging Sensations
Appu Ghar has the usual fare of exciting games like Roller Coaster, the Big Splash, Dodgem Cars, the Eerie Tunnel, Giant Wheel, Columbus Jhoola - a ship high up in the sky, the Speeding Cup, a Cable Car, a Saucer that works on centrifugal force and lots more.

Ice Games
Appu Ghar has now introduced Ice Games at OYSTERS, where four acres of the Water Park have been blanketed with ice for winter sports. These include sledding, skiing, ice boating, where one can row through a river full of icebergs and bowling on ice.

Other Attraction
Other enchanting attraction of Appu Ghar are The Magic River, Hi waves, Tower of Thrills, Swimming Pool.
